Birdwell Competition Jackets have been a status symbol in the California surf scene since the 1960s. As one of the first products we made—just after our board shorts-wearing one with a matching pair of Birdies marked a surfer as a member of a team or club. That often resulted in nods of respect or feelings of envy at the local break or boardwalk.
